Defending Simple Possession

For clients charged with possession of a small amount of drugs, for example, marijuana (less than 50 grams), I have often been able to get a conditional discharge in municipal court, or a diversion program, with 6 to 12 months of probation, mandatory drug testing, and fines. At the end of the probationary period, if they’ve met the terms of the program, the charges are dismissed, and the criminal record may be expunged a later time.
