A married woman from Palisades Park was charged with shoplifting from the Garden State Plaza in Paramus. She was afraid of losing her job and her immigration status in the country. A theft offense like shoplifting can result in a loss of employment and deportation from the United States. Mr. Polidoro was able to successfully negotiate a lesser non theft offense, a lesser sentence and a fine. The woman did not lose her job and was able to stay in the country. An East Orange man was charged by a Grand Jury in Newark with possession of marijuana over one-thousand three hundred (1,300) pounds, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within one-thousand feet of a school, being a drug kingpin, conspiracy and possession of handguns and assault weapons. Over seventy (70) suspects were involved and the Office of The New Jersey Attorney General accumulated over thirty-two thousand (32,000) wire-tapped conversations during the investigation. The client faced over 30 years in jail without parole. As a result of Mr. Polidoro's hard work and persistence the client received a probationary sentence. The Hudson County Prosecutors Office in Jersey City indicted a Newark man for possession, distribution and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and conspiracy for shipping over one hundred (100) pounds of marijuana through the UPS for the purpose of selling the drug in Newark, East Orange, Irvington and throughout Hudson and Essex Counties. Mr. Polidoro suppressed the client's confession and obtained a probationary sentence for him. A 50 year old schoolteacher with a clean driving record was caught speeding in Saddle Brook. She was clocked going 35 miles per hour over the speed limit with a radar gun. The teacher faced a high fine and suspension of her driver's license. She received a fine, no points and suspension. A man form South America was caught by the narcotics division of the FBI and charged with conspiracy to transport and distribute of over ten (10) kilograms of heroin. The United States Attorney's Office in Newark prosecuted the client and he faced life in prison. Mr. Polidoro successfully negotiated a favorable plea bargain of thirty-nine (39) months for the client. A Paterson Man was indicted by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office for allegedly engaging in aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and sexual contact with his two minor stepdaughters. The man claimed that he was innocent. An investigation by Mr. Polidoro revealed that the two minors had given several different accounts of the alleged incidents to witnesses. After a week long trial in Passaic County Superior Court, the client was found not guilty by a jury and walked out of the courtroom a free man. An Edgewater man was arrested for allegedly touching a Millburn woman at a Short Hills hotel while performing a massage. He was charged with indictable (felony) aggravated sexual contact and sexual contact. Mr. Polidoro was instrumental in having the matter downgraded to the Millburn Municipal Court as harassment, which is a disorderly person's offense (misdemeanor). The case went to trial and Mr. Polidoro achieved a not guilty verdict for his client. A Mahwah man was arrested by the New Jersey State Police for drunk driving (DUI) and careless driving on Route 80 in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. He was found passed out and intoxicated in his vehicle on Route 80. Mr. Polidoro tried the case and the client was found not guilty. A man from Fort Lee was charged with criminal assault and domestic violence against his wife. Mr. Polidoro first represented the client at a civil restraining order hearing in Hackensack Superior Court where he won the case and no restraining order was issued against his client. Mr. Polidoro then represented the client against the Bergen County Prosecutors Office and had the criminal aggravated assault charges dismissed. A Ramsey Man was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless driving in East Rutherford after driving his car over a curb on an entrance ramp to Route 17 and getting stuck. Mr. Polidoro successfully tried the case and the client was found not guilty of all charges. A student from Palisades Park was given a ticket in Englewood Cliffs for driving while suspended, driving without insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle. Mr. Polidoro negotiated a plea for a lesser charge on one of the tickets and was able to have the other two tickets dismissed. The client received a lesser fine and did not have his driving privileges revoked A North Bergen woman faced a driver's license suspension of six (6) months for speeding 40 miles per hour over the limit, a five (5) point driving offense, in Ridgefield Park. She ultimately pled guilty to a reduced charge of only two (2) points for speeding with no suspension, under a plea bargain obtained by Mr. Polidoro. A Tenafly minor was arrested as a juvenile offender for arson. The minor allegedly set fire to several cars in Teaneck, New Jersey. Mr. Polidoro had the minor evaluated and treated by a psychologist. The case was heard by a Bergen County Superior Court Judge in Hackensack. The Judge stated in court that Mr. Polidoro's arguments for leniency along with the psychologist's report persuaded him to sentence the minor to probation with counseling. In the Federal Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark, Mr. Polidoro represented a client for credit card fraud in excess of $300,000. The client faced over ten (10) years in Federal Prison. He was ultimately sentenced to five (5) months home confinement and paroled as a result of Mr. Polidoro's representation. A Ridgewood man was arrested in Ridgefield Park for kidnapping, armed robbery and burglary. In a separate case he was also charged with fraud by lying on a loan application in order to obtain One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) from a Little Ferry bank. Upon his arrest the client confessed to the police. The cases were combined and heard in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack. The client faced a minimum of thirty-seven (37) years to a maximum sentence of life in prison. Even though his client had confessed to the crimes, Mr. Polidoro successfully negotiated a plea bargain significantly less then the minimum term. A Police Officer in Middlesex County was charged with a sexual contact of a minor child in New Brunswick. He allegedly touched a 7 year old girl who was visiting while she was sleeping in his home. Mr. Polidoro convinced the Prosecutor's Office to permit his client and the client's wife to testify at the Grand Jury hearing. After listening to their testimony, the Middlesex County Grand Jury dismissed all of the charges against the officer. In Elizabeth, New Jersey, a corrections officer working in the Union County Jail was charged with assaulting another corrections officer while on duty. He allegedly punched the other correction officer in the mouth. Mr. Polidoro represented the client at a trial in Elizabeth Municipal Court and the officer was found not guilty. An Englewood man was arrested in Englewood for selling cocaine to an undercover police officer. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine within five hundred (500) feet of public housing or a public park, and distribution of cocaine. Mr. Polidoro represented the client at a trial in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey and the defendant was found not guilty of all charges. A Paramus woman holding a green card, was charged in Farview, New Jersey with prostitution and with running a massage parlor for the purpose of promoting prostitution. The client faced jail and deportation if convicted of the prostitution charges. Mr. Polidoro successfully tried and obtained a not guilty verdict for the client. A Newark man was charged in Newark, New Jersey with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon (a handgun) and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and faced up to thirty-five (35) years in prison. The victim identified the robber as a man dressed in a red hooded sweat shirt who ran down the street into a park. The client was arrested in the same park wearing a red hooded sweat shirt. A gun was found in a garbage can in the park approximately one hundred and fifty (150) feet from where the client was apprehended. The client had a prior conviction for robbery and weapons possession. The client was picked out of a line up by the victim. Mr. Polidoro hired a former Newark Police Detective to investigate the neighborhood where the robbery occurred. The investigation revealed that in one day, the former Detective observed over thirty people wearing the exact same red hooded sweat shirt in the park where the defendant was arrested. Further investigation revealed that the particular red hooded sweat shirt was in fashion that year. During a two week trial, Mr. Polidoro presented this evidence to a jury. He also drew attention to the fact that the client's finger prints were not found on the gun. After an extensive cross examination of the victim by Mr. Polidoro, the victim admitted that he was not sure of his identification of the client. The jury returned a not guilty verdict. |
